“On March 9, 2012 I fell of my wonderful Grand Prix Dressage horse. I don’t know what happened but something frightened him and he bolted. I was in intensive care for 24 hrs and the hospital for 3 more days I broke my C1 vertebra and had a concussion. I am alive because I was wearing my Tipperary helmet on the only horse I felt it was ok not to wear a helmet. The shell of my helmet looks fine but there are eggshell type cracks on the inside in the back. It would have been by head and I would have been dead or had severe brain damage had I not been wearing the helmet. Thanks for such a great product.”

It was amazing. I can’t count how many people commented on my helmet. Everywhere I went someone said “what a great helmet – who’s is it!” I of course proudly said it was the new Tipperary T4 Helmet! My trainer even commented about how great it looked!

I wore my new T-4 to practice and loved it. At the beginning it felt a bit tight at the temples, but that sensation went away soon. By the end of the practice I was totally comfortable. The cushioning pad at the back is totally necessary, without it the head feels much less supported. Overall, the helmet sits lower than my previous one, which is nice, and feels substantial, but not heavy, on the head. I am delighted with it.”

“I have been riding in Tipperary Sportage Helmets for 9 years now, and have owned 3 in that time. I love how durable and comfortable they are for everyday, yet still attractive enough to ride in clinics and shows. I have had two bad falls while wearing a Sportage helmet, and both times my head was fine, despite a hard and direct hit on the ground. The extra coverage at the back of my head makes me more comfortable knowing that in the event of a fall, I’m protected. I recently received a Sportage helmet as a prize at a local schooling show. Tipperary was fantastic to deal with and shipped promptly. Thank you for supporting local shows and making a great helmet!”

“Back in November 2011 I was involved in a horse riding accident, and suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury. I was wearing the Sportage helmet at the time, it was brand new, I picked it up the week before. The neurosurgeons said that it is due to the high standard and design of the Tipperary Sportage helmet that saved me from breaking my neck, and my life! Just thought I’d let you know that the Sportage is the best helmet I’ve had in over twenty years! I will not be hesitating to get one again.”

“I am writing to thank you for making such remarkable helmets and vests. I routinely wear your Sportage helmet and Eventer vest. There is much I don’t remember about my trail ride…except my horse racing as fast as he could, with me unable to stop him, and his feet going out from under him at the end of a bridge. We went down on a hard-packed dirt and gravel road that leads from the park to the barn, leaving skid and scrape marks on the bridge and the road…All I can think of is that if I had suffered that fall with no protection, it would have been a long, painful road to recovery, if I recovered. I know how lucky I am and I know I owe it totally to wearing your vest and helmet. Thank you for making a great product, well worth the price!!”

“I am writing this letter to commend all the men and women of your company that helped with the design of your Tipperary riding helmet. One of my mounted officers (P/O Phelps) was about to mount his horse when a loud noise spooked his horse, causing it to take off running, throwing P/O Phelps to the ground. P/O Phelps hit the back of his head, cracking his helmet in four places. Because of the visible damage to his helmet, P/O Phelps was taken to Shock Trauma as a precautionary measure. The chief attending resident doctor advised me that if it wasn’t for the officer wearing his helmet, his injuries would have been worse. The helmet he was wearing probably saved him from very serious injury, or death! We here at the Mounted Unit would like to thank your company for producing a product of this quality. We feel that it saved P/O Phelps life, and for this we are grateful.”

“I was ecstatic to receive my helmet from you and relieved to find it was just in time for my horse show the following day. I was very happy to find that the visor bends, and am very impressed with the end result. I have used it a lot since I received it, and I was overjoyed to find that it is both comfortable and cool. Thank you again!”

“I started wearing a vest after someone recommended I try a Phoenix vest. It is not bulky, and moves with me when I move. The side flaps allow for a custom fit, and it honestly feels like another piece of clothing. Not long ago, I had a horse rear up on me in the chute, and he balled me up and smashed me in the corner. If I wasn’t wearing my vest, I would have been bruised up, and probably had broken ribs. My vest took the brunt of the impact, and I was completely fine.”
Bo Casper, Champion Bareback Rider
“I am a firm believer in Phoenix vests. In the 2006 NFR, during the 2nd round, I was stepped on in the back, and instead of facing a possible career-ending injury, I was able to still compete in the next round. I’ve tried other vests and there is no comparison in fit and functionality. It is definitely the least restricting and safest vest on the market.”
Rusty Allen, Champion Saddle Bronc Rider
“Before 2009, I was very fortunate and blessed regarding injuries. One time I was wearing a competitor vest and got stepped on by a bull. The inside of the vest basically exploded out of itself and provided no protection at all and I was seriously hurt. I now only wear a Phoenix vest. This year while wearing a Phoenix vest, I got hung up on a short-necked bull and caught a horn in the ribcage. Because of Phoenix technology, the impact of the horn was spread out and instead of breaking my ribs, I was just a bit bruised. In Cody, Wyoming, I got knocked out by a bull and the bull stepped all over my chest and back again, phoenix vests technology made it so I was only slightly bruised. Awesome vest, great technology, and a great back up plan for bad circumstances. Phoenix is there to assist me through the hard and potentially serious injuries.”
Chance Smart (Champion Bull Rider)
“Concussions, strains, sprains, and contusions of the neck and back are the most common injuries sustained by rough stock cowboys. They result largely from the indirect whiplash forces applied to the spine… Acutely, these injuries may hinder performance. Their cumulative effects result in shortened careers, and potentially permanent disability. The use of this type of vest should reduce the frequency and severity of these types of injuries.”
Dr. Tandy R. Freeman (PBR Medical Director)
“Recently, I was competing in a local Western speed show. I was wearing the original Sportage helmet and my recently purchased eventing vest from Tipperary. The vest was an important investment because I have a pacemaker and have had back surgery. While pole bending, my horse made a sharp turn, I lost my balance, and hit the ground. I suffered a broken arm, sprained wrist and a minor concussion. The EMTs told me that if I had not been wearing my vest and helmet, I would have suffered a major head injury as well as a broken collar bone and ribs. I owe everything to my safety gear and I will be soon purchasing a new Sportage helmet to replace the one I damaged. I will never ride without my vest either because it saved me from suffering more injury.”
